Glycolysis & Krebs cycle-Respiration in plants biology NEET Success point

Respiration in palnts

Glycolysis
It is the process of broke down of the glucose into pyruvic acid and net gain of energy.
Key Point- It takes place in he cytoplasm of the living cells

Sucrose or other compound are first broken down into the glucose and fructose by the help of the enzyme Isomerase which enters in the glycolysis process.

Steps of the Glycolysis

1- First the glucose is phosphorylated to form glucose 6 phosphate with the help of enzyme kinase
Key point- Kinase enzyme is always use with addition or removal of phosphorus and energy is either consumed or released during this process

2- The 6-phospho Glucose is then converted into its isomer structure Fructose with the help of the enzyme Isomerase.

Krebs'  Cycle Or Tricarboxylic acid Cycle

It is the process which takes place after the glycolysis under the aerobic condition (sufficient supply of oxygen is available)

It is the main process of synthesis of the energy compounds

Acetyl CoA (2C) which obtained from the pyruvic acid is the compound which takes participation in the Krebs' Cycle which then converted into citric acid with the help of the enzyme citrate synthase in the presence of water.
